Sebastian has spent more than 15 years immersed in the world of wine. In 2013 he became the fourth person from Australia to pass the stringent Court of Master Sommelier’s examination.
He has been awarded the coveted Sydney Morning Herald Sommelier of the Year title in 2015; and the Gourmet Traveller ‘Judy Hirst’ award for best wine list in Australia in 2012.
Sebastian regularly judges at national wine shows around Australia, and in 2018 he judged at the prestigious Decanter World Wine Awards in London.
Over the years Sebastian has worked as a Sommelier with the Merivale Group in Sydney, and spent two years as Food and Beverage Director with award winning Chef Dan Hunter, at his three hatted Royal Mail Hotel. He moved back to Sydney to work with Dan Puskas and James Parry at Sixpenny. In 2014 Sebastian began working with Neil Perry at Rockpool 1989, during his time they were awarded Restaurant of the Year by Gourmet Traveller. From here, Sebastian became Beverage Director of the Rockpool Dining Group, which led to him being appointed head of wine selection for Qantas.
Sebastian is the Director of Real Wines, his wholesale wine business which sees him importing & distributing great wines from Europe.
