Bondar Wines Violet Hour 2019 Shiraz McLaren Vale, South Australia
$30.00

Region: McLaren Vale, South Australia
Grape: Shiraz
Vintage: 2019
Soil: Mixed

The Wine: Fruit from Shiraz vines up to 70 years old, planted on our Rayner Vineyard on the southern edge of Blewitt Springs in McLaren Vale. This wine pays homage to the Bondar style with fragrance and a lightness of touch. The use whole bunches is very clever and extended time on skins, helps to create a lightness, and adds dimensions of flavour and a silky mouth feel. Fermented with indigenous yeasts and minimal additions, aged in older French oak, Violet Hour should improve with grace over the next five years to ten years.

Producer Profile
Bondar Wines
Husband-and-wife team Andre Bondar and Selina Kelly, who were winners of the 2017 Australian Wine Companion’s Best New Winery which was a testament to what they are doing. In just a few short years that have captured the attention of many.
The McLaren Vale is situated about 40 kilometres south of Adelaide, this region does a good job of mimicking some of those Mediterranean areas north of the equator. You’re never too far from the coast here, which provides an adequate climate to grow grapes, but there is no hiding from the fact this is a warm region capable of producing full and powerful wines.
