$32.00
Style: Red: Concentrated, rich & powerful
Producer: La Violetta
Region: Great Southern, Western Australia
Grape: Grenache / Mataro / Syrah
Vintage: 2016
Soil: Mixed
Farming: Sustainable

Alcohol: 15.0%
Glassware: Bordeaux Stem

Serving Temperature: 16 – 18°C
The Wine: Deep and concentrated. Yes, this is a more full bodied style of red wine, but it is beautifully balanced and each of the varieties is worked into the blend with a wonderful touch. Ripe and juicy red fruits abound on the nose while the Mataro and Syrah bring some game and meat. The palate has a richness up front, but some wonderful, firm, tight tannins on the finish that work perfectly to hold everything in place.

Producer Profile
La Violetta
Andrew "AJ" Hoadley is Western Australia's iconoclast winemaker, although he'd probably say that's putting it a bit strongly...regardless, his fledgling winery (first release - 2008 La Ciornia, in 2010) has re-imagined traditional styles in Australia's largest state. That one of Andrew's wines is named Das Sakrileg ("The Sacrilege") should speak loudly enough.
The La Violetta wines offer power and precision, and drinkability in spades. Grapes are sourced from established vineyards from around the Great Southern region, and AJ plays a big part in overseeing the management of the vines, ensuring vine health and optimum ripeness.
All the wines are fermented spontaneously, and whilst none are filtered, some undergo a light fining. They are wines of presence and impact, but also of finesse and verve.
