The Wine: Made from free standing bush vine Tempranillo in the Frankland River district of the Great Southern in Western Australia. This is a fuller style of wine, without being over the top. Great concentration of fruit – blackberry and dark cherry. This mixed with tobacco, aniseed and smoke. The palate is flavoursome and balanced. Great length of flavour. Very impressive wine.

Producer Profile
La Violetta
Andrew "AJ" Hoadley is Western Australia's iconoclast winemaker, although he'd probably say that's putting it a bit strongly...regardless, his fledgling winery (first release - 2008 La Ciornia, in 2010) has re-imagined traditional styles in Australia's largest state. That one of Andrew's wines is named Das Sakrileg ("The Sacrilege") should speak loudly enough.
The La Violetta wines offer power and precision, and drinkability in spades. Grapes are sourced from established vineyards from around the Great Southern region, and AJ plays a big part in overseeing the management of the vines, ensuring vine health and optimum ripeness.
All the wines are fermented spontaneously, and whilst none are filtered, some undergo a light fining. They are wines of presence and impact, but also of finesse and verve.
